all about amy...

I’m the creative type, a designer. More specifically I design websites and products. I’m concerned about usability, customer experience and beauty. I dye my hair often and drink dangerous amounts of tea. Read on for a ramble about my life so far...

Born in Stourbridge, England in the early 80s I grew up watching Thundercats, had a terrible fringe and spent a lot of time drawing in the backroom of the hairdressers where my Mom worked.

After a few years of this, 19 approximately, I’d grown up & successfully grown out that fringe. I even managed to collect a bunch of GCSEs, a few A levels and a foundation course in Art and Design along the way.

Then I headed North to York and studied for a degree in Art and Design. After graduating with a 2:1, I found myself back in the Midlands working for a furniture design company. A few years later I decided to focus my thinking on Product Design. So I went into Brum (Birmingham in case you didn’t know) and studied for an MA at BCU.

I came away with a Pass with Commendation and promptly moved South to sunny Bournemouth and took up web based user experience design. Not what you were expecting right?!

Now web design is my life. I love it. I like nothing more than designing anew page or a killer split test or taking participants through a usability test and finding out what real people actually think.

I still keep up my 3D product addiction in my spare time, mostly rescuing unloved bits of furniture and giving them a new lease of life.

Why not take a peek at my portfolio and see what I’ve been up to...

I am currently seeking employment or freelance work to continue my design career and to further expand my skills and experience in the world of UX design.
